So a lot of you have probably read the following comic.
So, if we ignore the idea that he chills the air by compression, we can actually see if it is possible to freeze the Gulf of Mexico by comparing a bunch of sources. Firstly, we need to find a source using his freeze breath. This was expected to be the easiest part, but I was very very very very wrong. I was trying to find a Pre-Crisis source for when he was at his peak, but all I could reliably use was a New 52 strip from what I believe to be Issue 3.
And we have a couple of nice pieces of information. We can tell he can freeze all of that water in one second, without even having to catch his breath. You would not beleive the goddamn pain it took me to find a good comparison, but I found the same building in the cover of the same issue, right next to our beautiful, always the same, Daily Planet. I used the globe compared to Superman in this photo to find the size of the globe.
I thought this was the thing I needed, right? it's perfect. but then, I found, it's the wrong one. That photo was the real New 52 Daily Planet. But then it got blowed the GODAMN FUCK UP AND FUCK YOU TOO YOU CRAPPY ARTISTS HIRED BY DUMB AS ROCKS EXECUTIVES AND THE WRITERS WHO COULD GIVE ONE LESS SHIT ABOUT GOOD PLOTS But I digress. The Daily planet was REBUILT TO BE A FUCKING BEHEMOTH IN ISSUE 2!
GODMOTHERFUCK wait, it's OK, I can work with this. I do know that the Daily Planet that got wrecked is in the same spot surrounded by the same buildings. so we can use another photo of the old one to find it.
I can't see any obvious references to other photos I have of the Daily Planet, but if you can find anything at all short of this specific type of Dove that might be unique to Metropolitan Delaware, I'd love to hear it.
Author's Note: I haven't even TOUCHED the affect of the difference of Salinity with the Delaware Coast and the Gulf of Mexico, the volume of the Gulf of Mexico, the lung capacity of Superman, or any other thing I may need to touch. Fuck my curiosity.
