Having arrived at the Echelon and dropped you off, your driver told you where he would be and left you to fulfill your contract on Mr. Clark. Looking at the apartment, it did seem like a rather upscale place, making the suit you now wore seem appropriate. Standing shortly inside the door, you see a well dressed doorman watching you with a side-glace, waiting to spring to the door, no doubt to open it for you.

Walking into the apartment building, I try to look like I'm reciting something to myself, while I ask to the assistant helping me through the earpiece, "Who was the defendant of Clark's last case, and who was his or her primary lawyer?"

"The last defendant was a Mr. Jacob Kalsmith, found guilty of a felony-level drug trafficking crime. His lawyer was Mr. Harold Davis." the voice says quickly into your ear as you walk into the building, the doorman, as predicted, having jumped forward to open the door for you.

Nodding thanks to the doorman, I walk in to see receptionist. "Harold Davis, here to see Victor Clark about his last case. Could you let him know I have new evidence pertaining to my client's case, and would like a chat with him?"

As you approach the receptionist's desk, she looks up at you and nods as you make the request. "I'll see if he's in for you." she tells you, dialing the phone that sat near her. "Mr. Clark? You have a Mr. Davis down here wanting to discuss a case; Shall I send him up?" She then nods before hanging up the phone and hands you an odd, fob-looking device. "He's on floor 18, room 1827. And you'll need this to get in the elevator; Just hold it up to the buttons as you press them, otherwise it will just sit on the first floor."

"Thank you." I say, taking the elevator key and grinning to myself internally. Secrecy, shadows, smoke and mirrors are great and all, but when I can just walk in the front door... That feeling of fulfillment comes to light. Walking over to the elevator, I press the up button and wait for it to come to me.

You wait patiently for the elevator to open, stepping back to allow an older couple to step out before then stepping inside. Raising the fob up to the elevator's panel before then pressing the button for floor 18, you begin to feel the box begin to rise. Soon enough, you find yourself stepping into a well-lit hallway with a multitude of doors, each numbered '18__' in golden letters.

I walk to room 1827, and knock on the door. Then, I reach into my jacket and pull out my pistol, though keeping it near my side and covered by the jacket so security cameras won't be able to see it.

After knocking on the door, you hear a larger person on the other side press against the door. "Who is it?" you hear a rather rough sounding voice demand.

"Harold Davis. Mr. Clark is expecting me."

"Let him in," you hear faintly, before the door begins to slowly open. Just as you catch a glimpse of the man holding the door open, Mr. Clark looks at you before yelling and jumping from view. "Slam it!"

Quickly, I shoot the man holding the door open in the chest(through the door if necessary), and lunge forward to keep the door open, slipping inside before either of them can react. If I'm successful in that, I shoot once in Clark's direction to force him into cover, and then shoot the doorman in the throat or head, whichever critical vital part I can get at, who will probably still be reeling from the chest shot.

The door comes between you and the doorman, but you can hear the reaction of a successful hit through the door. Having no problem re-opening it, you finish off the guard and turn to fire at Clark, though he is nowhere in sight.

I get into cover, preferably behind a section of wall or a bookcase, or something else thick enough to stop a bullet. No doubt Clark has a gun of his own here, and I've lost the element of surprise. Taking the camera part of the earpiece on my finger, I stick it out, whispering, "Spot him for me, and I can do the rest."

You quickly dive into the kitchen and pull the camera from your chest. "Peaking out of a doorway to your right. Weapon-" the voice says, cut off by the loud crack of a gunshot as a bullet hit the counter near your hand. "Police and security will be inbound!" you then hear said quickly to you.

Leaning out, thinking how much this is like a movie firefight, I fire off a shot, hoping that the .45 caliber of my gun is enough to penetrate the wall. "Good thing I planned ahead then."
Getting an idea, I fire off another shot to keep him down where he is, and take out my zipline launcher. I fire it over near where he is, using the distraction it provides to run forward, though at an angle so I can see him looking for me and fire off a shot of my own before he can get me.

You both exchange a couple shots, though none mark as a hit. Deciding to use the zipline launcher, you aim at the wall behind him and fire, latching with a loud crack. Hell of a timed shot, too, for it creates a steady line just as Mr. Clark had tried to dive to the other side of the doorway, clothes-lining himself with a loud "Shit!" before rolling for cover.

I take the opportunity to take careful aim at him now, firing one shot, instead of my plan of running forward.

Taking careful aim, you hit Mr. Clark in the leg before he was fully able to get into cover, hearing a loud groan from him in response. "Police are within three blocks of the apartment tower." you hear warned into your headset. "And closing fast."

Firing another shot to keep him where he is, I run forward to get a better angle on him. "This isn't the way it was supposed to go..." I say under my breath. Firefights aren't my thing.

You take another shot and run forward, keeping him pinned behind the wall. Just as you begin to get an angle on him, the glorious sound of an empty gun clicking can be heard as he attempts to take a shot at you.

I have no doubt he has a backup weapon, probably a knife, or maybe another magazine. But I still have bullets. I sprint towards him as soon as I hear the click of his empty gun, firing a shot as I go, and two more once I get near him.

After your first shot, your assumptions regarding the additional magazine prove true as you hear him drop it with a curse, no doubt due to a hit through the wall. As you get closer, you take two more shots and see him crumble onto the floor, his pistol dropped as he began to crawl backwards, or at least, tried to.

Using my last round, I shoot him in the head. At first I regretted bringing this zipline launcher, but not only was it good forward thinking to bring it along in case something like that happened, it may have been the key to taking Clark down. Retrieving it, I take it off of the wall where it was anchored as a distraction to catch Clark, and look for a neighboring building I can shoot it to.

Taking care of Clark with your final shot, he falls still to the ground. Taking your zipline launch and going to Clark's large bay-window, you see a building that appears to be neighboring the bar your driver should be at. Shooting at you, you are able to make a successful connection just as you can see police beginning to exit their cars below and storm into the building.
[All shots fired.]
